MCBS recently hosted a special screening of the documentary “Al-Dukhtar Thomas”, produced by the Ministry of Information as part of its efforts to document and preserve Oman’s national memory.
The screening was very well received by our students, who showed great interest in the story and its historical and humanitarian significance. Many students expressed how much they enjoyed the documentary and requested that similar screenings be organized again in the future.
The documentary tells the story of the American doctor Dr. Wells Thoms, locally known as “Al-Dukhtar Thomas,” whose medical and humanitarian work left a meaningful impact in Oman. Based on the book “Al-Hakeem Thomas: A True Biography from a Forgotten Time in the Arabian Peninsula,” the film opens a window into an important chapter of Oman’s history, highlighting the lives of people, their communities, their challenges, and the major transformations that shaped the region before and after the discovery of oil.
At MCBS, we believe that education goes beyond academic knowledge. Events such as this documentary screening support the graduate attributes we seek to develop, including cultural awareness, social responsibility, appreciation of human stories, and respect for Oman’s rich heritage.
